Congratulations to the participating ACC teams in the 2018 ACC Year 7 Super Series - Sam Kerr and Stan Lazaridis Football Shields - held on Tuesday 16 October. A big thankyou to Football West for the ongoing support of such a wonderful football tournament for our ACC Year 7 students.

The Year 7 Super Series had soccer pool fixtures across two venues - Ellenbrook Sports Hub and Curtin University. All players are to be commended for representing their school and should be proud of the game standard played at each venue.

In the boys northern pool at Ellenbrook a strong final game performance by the Kingsway Christian College team defeated Mercy College 1-0 and earned entry into the Stan Lazaridis Final. In the girls, Mercy College was very strong all day going undefeated with a 2-0 defeat of second place Peter Moyes putting them through to the Sam Kerr Final.

The South-Central pool at Curtin University was also a fantastic day of games with Rehoboth Christian College determined to qualify for the Sam Kerr Grand Final by defeating Sacred Heart. In the Stan Lazaridis Shield, South Coast Baptist College enjoyed an undefeated run with some commanding performances against determined opposition teams.

The stage was set at John XXIII playing fields with magical weather for the Grand Finals on Tuesday 23 October. It was to be a football showdown with Mercy College v Rehoboth in the Sam Kerr Final (Girls), and South Coast Baptist v Kingsway Christian College in the Stan Lazaridis Final (Boys).

The Stand Lazaridis Final was played at a fast speed, with excellent attacking skills displayed. South Coast held an early 2-0 lead, with Kingsway coming back very strongly in the latter stages of the first half and early second half to score a brilliant goal. As the game progressed, South Coast showed their tremendous attacking flair scoring some stunning goals and pulling away to be crowned the champions for 2018.

The Sam Kerr Final was a little similar in pattern to the boys with Mercy College striking early through two goals in the first 15 minutes before Rehoboth started to find their feet and gain some possession and field position. Kicking with the wind in the second half, an early goal to the Rehoboth girls may have tightened the game up. This was not to be and the Mercy College girls strong defense and team work went to the next level.
